Assalamualaikum
These few days i've read several forum that are talking about our ministry matriculation. As we all know, the quota for non-bumiputra to enroll into matrix is only 10% while the remaining 90% is for bumiputra. When i'm reading all the post,i found out many pathetic stories about non-bumi who are unable to enroll into matrix.First, there is a chinese girl who study really hard to get 12A so that she can get into matrix as her family cant afford her studying at ipts. And yet she failed to get in.Another one was about this chinese girl who got a good result in her SPM that end up suicide because she failed to get into matrix where else all her malay friends were accepted.Though i'm not sure whether all these stories are true or not but i felt sympathy for them.
Anyway i agree that the quota is quite unfair for all those non-bumi that come from a poor family but yet they work hard to get an excellent result for their SPM.Their only choices are go to colleague or Form 6 as the scholarships available are not enough for them. From what imy observant, many malay students who got their place in matrix are not grateful enough as many of them think it is not up to standard.
For me,i dont mind going to matrix because i think it is the shortest way for me to get a degree as private colleague is a nono to me as the fees are really high(ipts exist to MAKE money from us =__='').
Anyway, during 1 year study at matrix there are many chapters that we need to cover in 2 semester. The subject that we need to learn are:
Sains Hayat

Core(marks not counted for pointer): English
Other (taken for 1 sem, marks not counted for pointer) : Pendidikan Islam/Moral, Dinamika Kemahiran, Kokurikulum, Sains Informatik

Living in Kolej Matrikulasi
Outing:
Students are allowed to go for outing during weekends. However, guys and girls must do outing on saperate days. For example, this week, guys' outing day is on saturday , girls' will be on sunday. The next week, vice versa (alternate between guys and girls).
If you would like to come out during weekdays, you may do so but you must get memo(permission) from the Penolong Hal Ehwal Pelajar or fellow block (hostel warden). Make sure for each outing, you must return to the college before 6.30pm. Once you are late, your outing card will be blocked, normally for 2 weeks. Meaning that you cannot go back home or outing in 2 weeks time.
Balik bermalam:
Students are allowed to go back home (balik bermalam) on saturday and sunday. Just make sure that you are back to college before sunday 6.30pm.
Hostel:
In hostel, there'll be 4 students living in a room. Normally [3 malays, 1 non-bumi] or [4 malays]. No double-deckers, all single beds, so don't worry. Everyone will get their own wardrobe and table with chair, or maybe a book rack each. No private toilet/bathroom in every room, so you'll have to share toilet/bathroom with your floor-mate or wing-mate. There'll be washing machine for each block. Each wing is provided with a water kettle and an iron. There'll no such thing like students have to switch off the light before 12am or what. You may study till 4 am (any time) as long as you don't disturb your roommates. Perhaps you may use a study/table lamp if you would like to stay out late.
In hostel, bacaan Al-Mulk will be practiced every night by the muslims, the time for it is depend on the Ketua Wing whether what time he/she wants to have it.For example at 10.30pm, all the muslim at the wing will gather at one of the rooms and do bacaan Al-Mulk, bacaan doa, and short tazkirah. No shorts or sleeveless shirt outside your room. must tutup aurat (for muslim). During your leisure, you may go going at the college area, ride on bicycle, play badminton , etc sports. Some sport equipments can be borrowed from the college. ( thanks to yillian ex-matrix students)
It looks fun living in hostel but once we reach there we need to study really really hard or else u will be kicked out .
I think that i will be going to matrix because i'm absolutely sure i wont get my upu.Even uitm they only accept 8A1 students into asasi and i'm sure the requirement for UM is even higher...so chiaoz =__=''
We miss all of you
